indoor activities with "movement"
can anyone suggest things to do or places to go in these winter months that can incorporate some kind of physical activities... preferably walking.
i'm a little tired of movies and dinner for my outings... they just keep me sitting and/or eating.
any ideas?

Roller skating/ice skating/bowling. Perusing the mall (do more walking than shopping).

there is indoor tennis at bethpage state park DH and I do a lot.

j/k but my sister has become addicted to the Wii Fit, it's really helping her tone up (she's not a "gym rat" at all)....

You are in NJ right?? I just found out about an actual ROLLER rink in Woodbridge....I am such a dork but it sounds like so much fun.....and it's active!

The Wii Fit has been great! I use it myself. Also, almost any game you play on the Wii has you moving. The sports games you can play with several people. My friends and I play it all the time and we are so competitve that its funny. Nothing like bowling or playing tennis at home, for free!

hauppauge - the rinks
kings park - superior ice rink
there are a few others you can yahoo them depending on your location!

i think there's one even closer to me. i think it's in franklin park. i'm going to give them a call.
i sure hope they have old-fashioned skates, because i can't do roller blades lol

check your local schools.....many of them offer volleyball,basketball,tennis, kickboxing,and dance lessons....
Indoor swimming complex-most have intro to diving and other fun classes, or just go for an open swim session
Visit a museum-MOMA,AMNH,
Visit an Aquarium-NY,Riverhead
Visit Planetarium-NY, Vanderbilt
Dave and busters-video games & pool
Ice/roller skating-
Bowling

outdoor grant park in hewlett
indoor ice skating long beach arena
i think there is another in bellmore. newbridge road.

Also you could take a dance or yoga class once a week. And if you want it to be social, do it with a friend. A friend and I took belly dancing and had a blast!
