infant car seat- graco vs chicco
I'm torn between the chicco keyfit 30 ($199) and the graco snugride 35 ($149). The price is better on graco, but I've heard chicco is a bit safer, less bulky, and easier to carry around.
Can anyone recommend which one they liked best? I am really only looking at these two seats because I plan to use the snap n go with them.
TIA

I love my Chicco keyfit. Overall I feel like Chicco products are much better made then Graco. Loved my chicco car seat with the snap n go. Best invention ever.

I don't even see a real difference, can you explain? I didn't have the magic and it was still perfect. We are using it for Baby #2 in May.

We used the chicco keyfit 30 for our dd 3, and it was great, just heavy to carry. But we're stil going to use it for our new ds bc it felt very sturdy and safe.

Neither seat is safer.
I personally like my Graco snugride. It's the lightest seat on the market, which to me, is a big deal when your baby is like 15+ lbs!
Also the snugride 30 LX is even cheaper than the 35 and is more compact. Many parents choose to switch to a convertible before its outgrown anyway so an infant seat with higher limits isn't always necessary.
I also couldn't justify spending $200 on a car seat that's used for less than a year in most cases, especially when there's no way to know if one is safer than the other.

I prefer the Graco. Safety wise, they are both the same. Graco is a little lighter and the sun shade is longer.

I have and love the chicco magic. I've had it almost 4 used through two kids and it's been great. The canopy unzips to extend with a mesh panel. I pretty much keep it unzipped all the time so the canopy covers almost the whole seat which is great. It also comes with reversible inserts with a warm side and a breathable side as well as a bit that velcros on in cold weather. I use it with the chicco version of the snap and go which I love.
I will say I helped my sister register and she went with a Graco seat and stroller and the combo seems really nice. The stroller Seay comes off so it's basically a snap and go and full stroller in one.

Re: infant car seat- graco vs chicco
I had the Graco Snugride for my first two but it's expired now so we switched to the Chicco Keyfit because of the latch connectors. The ones on the Graco are a real pain in the neck (at least they were for me.) The Chicco ones are much easier to use.

^^^^ this
As far as ease of installation and use, both are fairly easy to install correctly whether you use lower anchors or seatbelt (note: 95% of center installations MUST be installed using the vehicle seat belt and NOT the lower anchors)
Both seats fit newborns perfectly, and even low weight preemies (4-6 pounds) you want the straps to be coming from under the baby's shoulders and both of these seats have bottom harness heights low enough to do so. (Believe it or not there are infant seats on the market that do not fit an average size newborn! )
An infant seat is out grown one of three ways. Overall height, overall weight OR when the child has 1" of room above their head to the top of the seat shell. Whichever comes FIRST
99% off the time, an infant seat is out grown by the child's having 1" or less room above their head. They typically reach this way before overall height or overall weight. For example, my younger DD at her 3 year old check up was only 35" and 25 pounds. Yet she technically outgrew the infant carrier by the 1" rule at around 15 months (she's a peanut) My son, outgrew by the 1" rule at about 11 months (he was 24lbs and 30" at a year)

thanks everyone- While I liked the chicco seats, I didn't really think there were that many differences between the two brands. I went with graco because the seat was $80 cheaper, and almost exactly the same as the chicco seat I was interested in :)

DITTO!! Love mine. We also used them with the snap and go. Seriously a life saver! My Twins are almost ready to transition out of the infant car seat and I'll be getting them the Chicco Nextfit convertible car seats

Re: infant car seat- graco vs chicco
we happen to be big fans of chicco. We don't use any graco products so i don't have anything concrete to compare it to. I just know DH loves to do research on everything and after 3 months of comparing all seats, he decided the chicco was the best option for us. We have the chicco keyfit and 2 chicco nextfits. One for each car. DD is 2.5 and still happily rearfacing. Everyone is happy.
