Infant Car Seats?
An infant car seat is the last major thing missing on my registery. I just can't decide. I'm looking for one that isn't too big because I'm short and cannot lift that much. I wanted one that fits in a snap n go style stroller too. Any suggestions??
I had looked into the Snugrides but I just can't find a fairly gender neutral pattern that I liked...

Re: Infant Car Seats?
We have a red Graco snugride gifted to us by my inlaws that used it for a girl & boy. It looks great.

Re: Infant Car Seats?
With DS I had the Peg Perego and honestly, it was SO heavy. Plus it only holds up to 22 lbs, so we had to stop using it by 6 months bc DS was a big baby!! This time around, I got the Chicco Keyfit 30...its lighter than the Peg and it holds up to 30 lbs. Plus Consumer Reports rated it the safest car seat...

Re: Infant Car Seats?
"safest" is a myth.
ALL car seats on the market have to adhere to the same testing standards and have to pass the same Federal tests.
Some seats get recommended because of ease of use or because they'll last longer, but one isn't "safer" over another.
Personally, I'd recommend Chicco Keyfit 30 Graco Snugride 32/35 Baby Trend Flex Loc Safety 1st OnBoard 35/Air 35. All are the higher weight limit seats.
I tend to not recommend Evenflo infant seats because they require a 1 and a half inch clearance between the handle (which MUST be down) and the seat in front of it and that can be difficult to obtain even in larger vehicles.
The regular 22lb Snugride is a nice seat, but if you like this seat make sure you get one with a front harness adjuster, the rear adjust can be a PITA to use and tighten properly.
I always suggest going and touching the seats. Adjust the harness. Take a stuffed animal in and out of it, adjusting the tightness of the harness as you would with your baby. Carry it. CLick it into and out of the base. Most BRU you can even check the fit in your vehicle... And then get the one that fits your vehicle, budget and needs.
