Infant carseat question
Do you put it behind the driver, passenger, or in the middle?

Re: Infant carseat question
Its supposed to go in the middle. We're going to have two, so they are going to have to go on either side.

Re: Infant carseat question
in my car, it will go in the middle.
in DH's car, it will go behind the passenger seat (since DH's backseat only fits 2).

You can put one of those mirror things in but I have heard mixed reviews on them, that they can be to distracting to you while you are driving. I guess if they get really hysterical you just need to pull over to figure out what is wrong.

I'm not concerned. All my friends and family have put them in the middle without mirrors and things work themselves out just fine.

is there a 'rule' about baby being in the middle? i don't remember reading that or being told
my son's infant seat was on the passenger side, rear facing. his convertible seat now is still on that side.

Re: Infant carseat question
Middle is the safest then Passenger side.
We put ours on the Passenger side bc I'm too short and didn't want to climb in and out of the truck to lift up the carseat

I thought they were to go on the passenger side????
the safest spot is in the middle and that makes sense if you think about it. God forbid if someone t-bones you or something
My dd was in the middle until we switched her to a convertable seat, then we moved it behind the passenger seat

Actually it depends on the car - when we had ours installed we wanted it in the center but were told by the mineola installation guy that for our car it was recommended to go behind the passenger seat. He said it has to do with what type of car you have to where it should go.

very true. in my DH's jeep, the safest spot for the carseat is on the passenger side, and in my sedan it's in the middle (and that is where our carseat bases are).

Re: Infant carseat question
The middle is the best, I have a mirror on him so that I can see him. If it doesn't fit there, behind the passenger seat is the next safest place.

yup. same for us--in my SUV DS goes in the passenger seat and in the sedan it's in the middle.
and the police officer who inspected our carseat was the one who told us that. check your car's manual---it will tell you where the best spot is. it's different for ever car.

Since I have the same car, ITA.
The middle IS the safest place because of side impact. But not all car can have a seat in the middle.
The Passenger side is the 2nd best. Or best if your car cannot have a seat in the middle.

You can try a mirror but it didn't stay in position for me. There were a few times I had to pull over when he was little because he was freaking out and I couldn't see him.

Re: Infant carseat question
Do you have your car manual? It has to do with a combo of different reasons - where do your seats fold down? Is there an arm rest in the middle? The car manual should be able to tell you where to put the seat - if not when you get it inspected they know where it should go based on what you drive.

Re: Infant carseat question
I read on Consumer Reports online that the middle is safest. I then had a police officer inspect it and he said the middle was the safest also.
As for the crying, I didn't use a mirror or anything. I got good at putting her pacifier in from the driver's seat. Otherwise if I knew she was changed and fed, I would just have to let her cry until it was safe to pull over or until I got home if I was close.
