At what age can you use Ibuprofen for teething?
Emma is 5 months old and teething really bad -Tylenol doesn't seem to do the trick.

Re: Infant Motrin

Tylenol never worked for Alex... I would call your ped and ask because the Motrin dosage is based on infant age/weight. At our 4 month visit our doctor told us we could use Motrin and told us the appropriate dosage - it works MUCH better than the tylenol! Chat Icon

Re: Infant Motrin

I think its for 6months +

I was thinking of getting it for DS- since his teeth have really been bothering him, and it lasts longer than tylenol...

However when I read the box, and all the warnings, and allergies... I put it back down...Ill stick with tylenol and teething rings for a little longer- but thats just me...

Yeah, I think the reason why we go the go-ahead to use it at 4 months is because Alex reached the weight requirements long before that Chat Icon

Alex is so cute!!!

So I just called my ped - No Motrin before 6 months. I can't understand why doctors all give such different advice!

Thanks!!! That's too bad about your pediatrician - well, only 4 more weeks to go, right? In the meantime, you can try frozen bananas, carrots and frozen washcloths. They help a little Chat Icon

Re: Infant Motrin

I also heard that it is a good idea to switch and not give just tylenol or motrin all the time, but to switch back and forth.

We give tylenol most of the time if anything at all, but once in a while when its really bad we use motrin and it also lasts 8 hrs so it's better for when her teeth bother her at night.
