Re: Infants with Asthma-protocol
Reactive Airways Disease (children asthma) here not actual asthma.
We have pulmicort everyday (we are taking a break for the Summer after being 1 year on it and will resume back on October).
For wheezing, xopenex but only as needed.
First signs of wheezing or heavy breathing we do xopenex for 2 days then go to Dr if it does not go away.
He only has been on oral steroids once. Because he was too sick to recoup without it.

Soph, how many hours for the Xoponex PRN?
I have oral steroids on hand in the case of emergency? This is the second time he has needed them.

Re: Infants with Asthma-protocol
asthma here, but a toddler
pulmicort twice a day. if we make it to oct okay, I am dropping it to once a day.
duoneb for emergencies. usually if I pull it out, he's on it every 4 hours for 5 days.
his episodes very rarely ever fade without us going to DR for oral steriod.
(since I redid his room, world of a difference...but Sept will be the true test. i have had nightmares about sept since last oct. I can't believe its this week.)

When wheezing is really bad/labored, every 4 hours. Then we go every 6 hours when it seems a bit better then 3 times per day.
