Info for Childbirth Classes at NSUH Manhasset

I haven't preregistered with the hospital yet, but I think I will be doing this at my next appointment. I would like to sign up to take a few of the classes, but can't seem to find information on them, can anyone point me in the right direction?? How did you go about signing up?

FYI - all the info is also give to you with the registratrion packet. You get a booklet which describes all of their classes, policies, etc....

I will be quite honest, I took a class from NSUH called Baby Basics a few weeks ago, and DH and I thought it was horrible and a total waste. I actually "corrected" her on a few points, that being, she showed a video in which the baby is being given a bath and they washed the baby's head first. I was always under the impression that was last, you don't a baby with a soaking wet head the entire time, she said, you are absolutely right! OK, well then before you show the video, or even right after, tell everyone that there are a few things in the video that you disagree with and point them out...that was just one thing...it really was all common sense stuff and we thought it was a waste of $$$ and more importantly, our time! JMO though, some girls there honestly had NO CLUE about lots of things, so for them you could tell it was necessary! I think it personally just depends on where you fall!!! We did however take a Lamaze class with a nurse from our doc office, and she got into everything from false labor, contractions, labor & delivery, drugs, breastfeeding...that was an EXCELLENT class and well worth the money!

As a BTDT= I didn't take any classes at NSUH, but I delivered there. We did take the hospital tour, which we really liked. Also, they give bathing classes while your in the hospital, every morning. You can take your DC and they'll show you how and help you bathe them...that was great. They allso offer a BFing class while you're there, which I didn't take, but heard was good.
