Information seeker
I am an information seeking wh*re for lack of a better term. I know, I just can't help it. Even when I was PG with DS I read everything and anything I could get my hands on. I also think it helps me to feel like I am doing something since I am SO IMPATIENT!! That being said.....does anyone have experience with getting PG and having miscarriages? I felt awkward posting this here because I am fertile, I am just having trouble keeping the pregnancies. I don't want to upset anyone, but the ladies on the PG board said I should ask this here. I hope it's ok. I have had 2 mc's in 6 mos (both at 5 weeks) and am now going to see an RE. I am desperately seeking info about what will be done and a really wonderful LIFer told me about her experience. She also had 2 losses and goes to the dr I will be seeing. He has her taking Letrozole and then she'll get a trigger shot and then BD on their own. Have you done this? What exactly does the trigger shot do? Makes you ovulate? Do you give it to yourself or does the DR do it? Do they say have sex this day, this day, this day? Did you do this and get PG right away? Did it take a while?
TIA! Sorry for so many questions.

Re: Information seeker
I'm sorry for your losses. If you are having miscarriages early on it could be a progesterone issue, or it could be that there's a clotting issue or something else. I would def. suggest meeting w/ an RE as they generally have more experience dealing with this- and it's generally easily fixable. HTH! I'm not sure that a trigger shot would help you- you're getting pregnant, so that's not the issue.

Thank you! I am going to see the RE monday, I am just so impatient. I think this Dr tends to be proactive and I have heard that he will help you along with getting PG. Watching closely to see what follies are there and when I am ovulating. I guess it kind of takes the guess work out of everything.
ETA alot of people have been mentioning the clotting issue. Could that be a factor even though I already had a successful pregnancy? Is it something that might have changed since I had DS like Progesterone?

I see Braverman, have a clotting issue, and have had a successful pregnancy- he seems to think i have issues implanting.

Re: Information seeker
It's great to do your research and be informed.
The RE will probably run a whole bunch of tests to try to figure out what is causing your m/c.
Some people have trouble getting pregnant AND have m/c.. so they might need things like Clomid/Letrozole and triggers.
For you, since you don't seem to have that problem.. you will probably just have the RE help you STAY pregnant. It might be a clotting issues, could be some sort of genetic thing like Lori mentioned, could be a progesterone issues - that's what the RE is there to do... to figure it all out!
Good luck!

Re: Information seeker
The trigger shot will just help them to control you a little better and help with the timing of your intercourse. This way, when they find out what is causing your m/c you are more likely to get pg on the first try, instead of trying for a few months. (I'm not sure if you get pregnant the first month you try or if it takes a few tries.)
On your first appointment they will likely take an extensive medical history and some blood. They may want to do some genetic testing (using the blood) to see if you are at high risk for spinal muscular atrophy, cystic fibrosis and some other things like that.
I'm sorry for your losses.
