ingrown toenail-any suggesitons?

I feel terrible I think I cut Antonio's big toe nail too short on the edge and now it is a little swollen.

I soak it in the bathtub at night for about 20 minutes (his bath)

I hate that he can;t tell me if it hurts.

Is there any cream or any other suggestions?

Thanks

I don't think a cream would help except maybe an antibacterial ointment. If it looks like the nail is growing into his skin, I would try to trim it or take him to his Ped. DD had a nail that was growing downward into her skin and I try to check it frequently and keep it trimmed.

I once had an in-grown toenail and it really hurts. Even putting socks on would hurt! I eventually had to go to a podiatrist.

Hope he feels better! Chat Icon

I'm taking my son to the podiatrist tomorrow, I'll ask for you.

I'd use some neosporium on it for now.

I agree. I had one that was extremely painful & infected. I wouldn't suggest what I did (which was cut it out on my own when I couldn't get a podiatrist appointment in time). My podiatrist was thoroughly impressed with my pain threshold. I would soak it & use neosporium too.
