Insignia Review
DH and I went there for dinner last night. I know the reviews on here haven't been that great, but one of his friends recommended the surf and turf special they have on Sunday's so we figured how could you mess up steak and lobster? Well we won't be returning. One of my pet peeves is having a reservation and still having to wait for your table. I understand 5-10 minutes, but we got there at 5:55 for a 6:00 reservation, and we weren't seated until 6:35. When DH and I asked the host why we had to wait, instead of just saying I'm sorry we over booked, he actually argued with us. It was really unprofessional. The meal didn't get much better from there, and there are plenty of other resturants I'd rather spend my money in. I felt like it was really pretentious for the sake of being pretentious and didn't live up to the hype.

Good to know! I heard they're pretty overpriced too.

Re: Insignia Review
I agree with having to wait for a table when you have a reservation. I too went on Sunday for the surf & turf special, with a 6:00 reservation. Waited about 20 mins for the table. Not too bad IMO.
But the food, I thought, was FANTASTIC!! One thing was better than the next. I had the tomato & mozz. appy. I loved the little clover leaves on top instead of basil. My friend had the tuna roll, which she loved, and her DH had the Insignia salad, which he said was great. I also loved the sauce they served with the bread. Surf & turf...how can you go wrong? I had the baked potato, and I've never seen one bigger! My friend go the asparagus, and I'm trying to recreate that this weekend when I have family over for dinner, it was THAT good. Dessert, well...how can you go wrong? I had the cheesecake. The only complaints I had were: not enough dressing on DH's ceasar salad, no pepper on the table and not offered fresh cracked pepper. When we asked for it, they brought us a small pepper grinder that matched the salt shaker. Why not leave them both on the table? And not enough whipped cream with my cheesecake. Other than that, I can't wait to go back.
Sorry you weren't happy.

IMO, you shouldn't have to wait any longer than 10 minutes when you have a reservation. When DH suggested to the host that maybe they shouldn't book so many tables he scoffed at us. But now seeing that this is a trend, now I KNOW they are overbooking their reservations.
I ate similar to you. I didn't think the tomato mozz app was anything to write home about, as the mozz didn't taste fresh. You wouldn't think they could screw up surf and turf but our streak was burned on the outside. DH had the cheesecake for dessert, which I tasted, and neither of us thought it was good (we didn't even get whipped cream). I had the apple struddle and the philo around it was soggy and the apples weren't that soft, seemed like they didn't cook it enough. Neither of us finished our desserts.

It was things like this that bothered us too. I have other restaurants I go to that I have had much better service.
