Instagram Question
Okay, this is the dumbest of all questions, but I've been wondering...
How do people get the little emoticons in their comments?

I have the app on my iPhone but have only used it like ONCE so I didn't even realize people could even comment on your pictures! 
Having said that, I'm wondering if they're just using their emoji keyboard when they want to use an emoticon. Like the way you'd do it in a text. KWIM?
That's my only guess...
ETA: And remember, the only dumb question is the one never asked

That's probably what it is. It just makes me feel so technology illiterate when everyone else is making comments like "Whoo! Donuts!   " And my comment has this little guy ";o)".

It's an iPhone app to share photos. You can take pics with the app and give them vintage-like finishes.

Since you "follow" your friends, you can "like" their photos or leave comments. So people have left comments with emoticons on my photos but I only know how to do it the old fashioned way.
