insurance experts- what does this mean?!
I was talking with my ins co about how I need 12 IUIs before moving onto IVF
She said in the contract, it says I can do up to 3 IUIs per cycle. I told her that physiology doesnt allow for that! She said "well its in the contract, which probably wasnt written by a doctor- but that's what it says!" It seems to me that this might be a way to side step the issue, I just don't quite understand how!
Otherwise, I will have the doctor appeal for IVF based on other (very valid) reasons.
But anyone ever hear of this?

Re: insurance experts- what does this mean?!
Not sure but I would think back to back IUIs count as 2... so maybe they mean 3 a month which means (if your dr would do it, or if he could say you did it) it should be 4 months worth of iuis @ 3 a month... at least that's what I understand from it, though I'm not an insurance expert. HTH!
I would think a dr could override that. My dr overrided mine b/c of my PCOS--- I had so many follicles that he couldn't control them well enough and he couldn't trigger me, so it was a total waste... hth!

Back to back count still count as one. It's counted per cycle, not per iui.

I would have thought that it meant back-to-back IUIs...but never heard of anyone doing three!!! See if your insurance company counts back to back iUIs as one...Im sure Penny is right..but...you never know..maybe your carrier is different.
I too got a waiver. It can be done....

Re: insurance experts- what does this mean?!
Are you sure they aren't talking about an INSURANCE cycle (e.g., calendar year)?
