Insurance Question
I just called to review my benefits. They reminded me that I am covered for 3 transfers lifetime.
It just occurred to me this might inlcude FET. I asked but the woman I spoke to couldnt tell.
Thats just wrong, especially since FET is so much cheaper. Does anyone know if this is true or how I can find out for sure?
Also the RN at my clinic just told me yesterday that another pt cancelled at the last minute b/c even though her new policy had IF coverage, in the end they had excluded her b/c she had failed a certain # of treatments in the past. Not b/c it was pre-existing but because they only covered it if you hadnt failed more than a certain # already.
Things are looking gloomier and gloomier over here

Re: Insurance Question
I don't know, but can you ask to speak to a supervisor....keep them on the phone until you get an answer

Re: Insurance Question
Have the person who handles the insurances at the Dr's office call and see if they can get an answer for you.

Re: Insurance Question
i have ghi and was told that one cycle consists of one fresh ivf cycle and one fet. i'm covered for 3 cycles, so that's 3 fresh and 3 frozen.
one good thing ghi has, is a specific person, that is a nurse that just deals with ivf cases, so that way you are not calling the regular customer service people with questions that they don't understand, but someone that does. her title is "case manager in the coordinated care department."
please don't give up hope. what insurance do you have? maybe you can check their website for a directory of people that might be better able to answer your questions.
good luck!!

Re: Insurance Question
wow!! I have GHI too, so I hope its the same but there are many different policies. Is yours through NYC? Do you have a 25% coinsurance? I have called many times and never been transferred to an IF specialist. I'll have to call again and ask for that person.

yes, through the nyc dept of ed. i had to precertify with ghi before starting my cycle and this woman sent me a letter saying i was qualified with her number.
i'm fm-ing you the number, maybe she can help you too or direct you to someone else, but i feel like she's the one to contact.
