Interesting convo I had with Riley's teachers this morning...WWYD?
One of Riley's teachers, who is only there in the mornings, works REALLY hard at getting Riley down for naps, and to keep her there since she tends to wake up quickly. They all know how big I am on her naps...especially because lately it's affecting her going to sleep at night and staying there.
If there are ratio issues, Riley will end up on the other side of the room (Infant A, where the younger babies are). They tell me the reason for this is, she's one of the easier babies and is happy wherever she is. Okay fine, but it always annoyed me anyway. To be honest, I don't like the girls on the Infant A side. They are the personification of lazy to me. I've never seen them really interact with the babies and they're just not easy to talk to in any way. One of the girls, when she floats to the Infant B side, will actually create a barrier with the bookcases so the kids won't crawl out of the play area. I haven't seen her do that in a while so I'm sure the owner put a stop to that.
So the one teacher (Deb) who works on her naps, asked me this morning how Riley did for her afternoon nap yesterday. I said she didn't have one and you should've seen the look on her face. It was like MURDER. Then the girl on the infant A side who is there in the mornings (the only one I like!) "no comment from the peanut gallery." And then Deb said "I could say something but it would get me in trouble." And I said "Well I'm sure you'd be saying things that I've thought about already." And it ended there...I didn't want to make them say things they knew they shouldn't say but man I was DYING to get it out of them!
Maybe Deb shouldn't have said that but I am GLAD. I was wondering if I was just being hyper-critical. But now that I see the other ladies disapprove, and they are there a heck of a lot more than I am and see a lot more than I do, I feel like it's time to talk to the owner. I will not tell her what the other teachers said, but will mention the lack of naps when she ends up on the other side (and the owner has already been questions why Riley ends up over there all the time).
How would you approach it? I can talk to the owner privately, or I could even just write a comment and put it in the box.
Comments? TIA! I just needed to get that all out- thanks for listening!

If it were me I'd find the time for the owner to sit down and talk to you about it. Not a quick comment or rushed between drops off or pick ups, but I'd want her full attention and have the time to express myself fully and clearly.
I am huge supporter of face to face conversations. I want to gauge their reactions. Do I feel like maybe I am over reacting or do I get the feeling they just don't care? Maybe I see it something she's aware of and honestly working on or maybe its the first she's heard of it.
A lot can be said for non verbal clues. But that's just me.
Good Luck

Tara -
I had the same issue for a while at TLE.... I told the teachers (and the director) that I absolutley did not want Samantha in Infant A when there were ratio issues, to put another kid there instead. Especially since Samantha also had a hard time with naps and really only let 2 specific teachers "handle" her.
I had to fill out one of those parent communication forms and specifically state I did not want her moved to Infant A for any reason. They had to comply with that.
I would let the teacher(s), know your wishes. If they don't comply, then go to the director.
