Interesting debate DH and I had....

If our house were to go on fire (god forbid) in the middle of the night and we could only take 1 thing, what would it be??

(considering all humans and animals would make it out safely, so exclude them)

So what would you take??

Re: Interesting debate DH and I had....

honestly i'd probably just grab my purse & cell phone

i really don't think that you would think of "one thing" to take if your house was in flames or something in the middle of the nite. i'd be more concerned getting clothes & shoes on and running out to safety than anything else!

Re: Interesting debate DH and I had....

My purse! ( assuming it would have my kepys, walet & phone)

I did have to leave in the middle of the night ( apt on another floor on fire) and all I wanted were my keys, wallet, phone & husband. I some how manged to put on glasses, shoes & rings. I had to be reminded to take a coat. If the fire were in my actual apartment I would have taken even less.

I only saw 1 person who took any personal items out.

When it actually happens, it is hard to think. One lady forgot her cat, b/c she was focused on her newborn ( and they were really close to the apartment on fire.)

ETA--Mrs PJB is totally right.

see that's sort of what I was thinking. I don't think I could actually sit there and think about what to take, but to get my butt out, and don't forget to grab the dog!

I guess I would want to take my baby album since it can't be replaced.

I saw on TV once people actually make these stash and run boxes that they place all the stuff they want to take in this case and run out with it.

I'm sure burglers appreciate the convenience of having all the important, valuable things in one convenient box.... Chat Icon

There's really nothing that I own that I can't replace, other than living things. I would focus solely on getting my family out, then worry about replacing things after the fact. All my photos are also stored at work, so I don't have to worry about them.

That's what I was thinking. I really couldn't think of one material thing that I couldn't live without.

I probably wouldn't take anything but living things. I'd be too freaked out to think straight.

Same here.

This was actually a huge fear I had growing up & actually kept a bag packed near my bed. It had a change of weather appropriate clothes, shoes, a couple of treasured items and I kept my house keys on top.

Pocketbook with keys in it, rings and that's it. There's no way I would get out with all my pictures-too many.
