Interesting perspective of Trump Supporters
I think that this guy hits the nail on the head. Reading this might help everyone who is looking for some explanations about how Trump "supporters" feel.

Interesting perspective of Trump Supporters
There was also an interesting piece by a woman named Asra Nomani (a Muslim immigrant) in the Washington Post several weeks ago. It comes right up if you google. My take is that the reasons people voted for Trump are a bit more complex than a lot of anti-Trump folks portray.

It makes me feel at ease as a non Trump supporter

Re: Interesting perspective of Trump Supporters
It was an interesting piece, thanks for sharing.
I think he is right in that we can bounce back from and weather anything- but I also worry a great deal (and maybe I am the only one and overanalyzing- I am sure someone will tell me if I am ) about his fascination with nuclear weapons, his lack of concern about starting a new arms race, and his use of Twitter to make comments which may cause issues with foreign leaders. I don't know if he grasps how nuts Kim Jong Un is, I don't think he gets that Putin is dangerous too.

What exactly are you looking for?
I will say without hostility that I don't much care anymore why people voted for him because the policy circus and cabinet appointments have me spinning. I can barely keep up. I read the article - fair point - but there is so much work to do to ameliorate the damage that is mounting that understanding his voters is the least of my concerns.
Paul Ryan's town hall (which I posted and hasn't gotten any reaction) did help alleviate my anxiety because it sounds like Congress will work against some of his more extreme ideas, and I'm glad that *some* checks and balances still exist.

Yes I read her initial piece right after he was elected. She comes from a very specific/narrow reason for voting for him (to fight radical islamic terrorists)
Its totally fair and understood that people have their reasons for voting. But I havent seen his supporters (not necessarily on LIF) comment and take a stand yet on social justice issues. Hope that changes when he is official

As usual,
No crickets, people don't care anymore to validate your feelings why you voted for him. It works both ways
OP, thanks for the link. Interesting read.

Sums it up for me. Everyone said before the election that he'd change, become more presidential. He's gotten worse. We're in for a period of unrest and it scares the living hell out of me that he's continuing to act less mature than my 2 year old. He's had 2 months to shape up and mature and try to bring the awful divisiveness that he has breeded together but no. I literally have no hope and it's getting worse day by day.
I disagree about Paul Ryan. He will do anything to make himself look good while screwing everyone over. He's as corrupt and selfish as the rest of the GOP in congress. And apparently he has blocked people from calling/faxing his office so they can't express their opinions on ACA, planned parenthood, and other important matters. Coward.

Re: Interesting perspective of Trump Supporters
This actually made my understanding even WORSE, or attempt too and the whole thing even harder to swallow. So you SAW his weaknesses, you acknowledge them. You think hes a world class jerk you wouldnt want to have dinner with and yet you STILL elected him.
This article just screams, "look, we know he is unqualified and does a lot of stupid shit but we wanted something different"
So THIS was your answer? How is he disrupting the status quo, ie "clearing the swamp"? How is he making you feel "safer" - by baiting N Korea and Russia via twitter but we should "know what is in his heart and what he really means"? I could go on but I wouldnt be naming anything that hasnt been named already....
You want a change.....fine, I get that. but THIS is not the answer. I still pray, literally, every night that I am proved wrong. Ill see you back here in 4 years and let me know how this worked out for ALL of us.

I agree (including the Paul Ryan part). He's pretty bad, too.
I don't care to make a comment on why people voted for him or not. There's so much other dodgy crap going on.
It's too late for this "article."

This article makes me have even less respect for anyone that voted for him. The fact that anyone could could just overlook and accept his lack of ability, lack of dignity, and lack of EVERYTHING needed to run a nation is actually extremely scary to me. Now, we're all going to pay the price for this country's very poor choice in President.

I agree. This blog did nothing to change my opinion. I'm still just as nauseated as ever when I think of him as our President.

Interesting perspective of Trump Supporters
I agree - this blog is nothing new and presents nothing I didn't already know or suspect about most Trump supporters. They were so hell-bent on tearing down Hillary for perceived and legitimate issues that they ignored Trumps own scandals. Cognitive dissonance - they psychologically refuse to accept Trumps shortcomings. And it doesn't make me feel any better that some supporters feel remorse - you absolutely should. So no, I'm not really going to be sympathetic to people who willfully ignored his hatred, his ego, his disgusting rhetoric....just because they couldn't vote for Hillary. Just because they wanted something "different." Just because they hated Obama so much they wanted to elect someone who would smear his legacy at every turn. Just because they lack compassion and empathy for the world they live in and can't even imagine helping out their fellow man.

I don't think the people that voted for him are "disgusting"............. I do however think that many were very ignorant to who this man really is and willingly turned a blind eye to everything he put out there which CLEARLY demonstrated how ill equipped he is for the job. They fell for his lies and big mouth but change and a strong nation are not built on empty promises and hot headed ranting and anger.

Welcome to America where to man the desk and answer calls you need to have 15 years experience, a graduate degree + 30 additional credits, 18 professional references, speak 12 languages fluently, own a home, be caught up on your mortgage, have 3 bank accounts, full background check, psych evaluation, drug test, blood sample, have no kids or disown the ones you have, no plans to marry or divorce the one you have, no plans of getting sick, be able to solve a rubik's cube with both hands tied behind your back using just your teeth, know where Jimmy Hoffa is buried with a margin of error of 2 feet and be able to make one helluva cup of coffee.
To be president you have to roll around in a vat of radioactive neon orange talcum powder making sure not to get any around your eyes, have a very active twitter account, at least 30 d!ck pics stored on your cell phone to be used at your discretion, at least one sexual assault under your belt you can later brag about, and possess the ability to make up new words on a whim that no one has actually ever heard of.
