This was on youtube quite a while back. It is very odd, but I find this family a bit off the beaten path in general. they seem homeschooled and removed from societal norms...

for me this is really weird too...i didnt even BF any of my kids so to see an 8 year old on it is very disturbing

I have friends who still do it at 18mts and up. I was nanny in college for a mom who still BF'd her 3 yr old. At first it was a little shocking, but after I got used to it, I really don't see anything wrong with it. 8 yrs old, is just not right, but 2 and even 3, why not? There are worse things a mother can do to her child....

My BFF's twin BFed her daughter til she was 5 and she got pregnant again.
I don't know that it really helped Anna. She is terribly dependant on her mother and a terrible eater.
I do think to each his/her own with this, but that "bond" can also be a negative thing as well

I agree. But that clingy, needy bond can happen with or without the BFing involved - sure, it can't help, but a relationship like that can manifest no matter what, depending on the dynamics between mother and child, IMO....
