Interviewing Pediatricians- When do you do this?

What types of questions do you ask? I have a list of three that come highly recommended but I am going to meet them to see if our personalities click. I already know I am going to be a paranoid mother and calling the DR all the time.

Thanks

Usually they won't meet with you until after 7 months. I asked just the basic questions about the practice and how many doctors. What happens in an emergency. What would happen right after the baby is here. He was great and i felt really at ease with him.

Re: Interviewing Pediatricians- When do you do this?

I did it when i was 8 months pg.

There's a good list on babycenter.com, but I went with my gut and asked a couple questions the dr's "presentation" didn't answer.

Check out the waiting room, is it clean, how long do people wait
Are the people behind the desk pleasant?
What's the on call policy?
When/can you call the office during office hours? Who would you speak too?
Lactation consult on staff?
Are they pro BF'ing?
Shots? Offer preservative free? What schedule they stick with?
Are you comfy with the dr?
Does your gut give you an okay when you are there?
What credentials does drs have? My practice all the dr's have 2 specialities each in addition to Pedriatics.

Our ped the nurse, lactation consult and dr as well as office manager spoke with us at our interview appt.
I feel in love with the dr's office, and I still love them..If it wasnt for the LC there, i wouldn't have made it bf'ing. I called her at least 3 times a week in the beginning, and went there specifically for that a couple times.

I did mine on January 15th so I was about 30 weeks along

The doctor gave me his speach which answered alot of my questions. If you google "pediatrician interview questions"...it gives you a good list
