Introducing Formula?
So I recently found out I have to go to KC the first week of April. Right now, DS is 5.5 months and is EBFing.
There is no way I can pump enough to last him during the week I am away unless I start to supplement his bottles and start stockpiling my milk. I was thinking of supplementing 1 or 2 ounces per bottle starting tomorrow so that I can start saving for that week.
For those of you who started supplementing, should I expect any differences in DS when he starts getting a little formula? Will his poops be different? Will he spit up more? I just don't know what to expect.
Also, my ped told me he could have Similac Advance or Enfamil Lipil..... do you favor one over the other?
TIA!

Re: Introducing Formula?
When DS started on formula he hadn't pooped for a few days straight...I'd say it was probably 4 or 5 (and before that he went like 3 or 4x a day while BFing) Once he did poop, it was regular after that. The Dr. said it was normal for things to slow down while he got adjusted to the new stuff. I've read that you should really mix BM with the formula to make the transition (I didn't do this).
(I've only used Similac)
eta: forgot to add that he didn't spit up any more or less and the poops were much more stinky!

Thanks for your info!!! I think I am going to start this week by adding 1 oz of formula to his BM, then in a couple of weeks I may have to bump up to 2 oz so that I can save enough milk for my trip!
