I was in a semi private...it was okay. My first roommate was fine, but then after she left I got someone at 3:15 in the morning the day before I was leaving so that wasn't so great. If you really want to rest, then I would probably do the private.

About how much extra is it for a private room?

I heard it's like $700 a night at LIJ  Not all other hospitals are this much, but this is what my OB is associated with and I've heard great things.
