Introducing my gorgeous baby girl
Things have been hectic, but I wanted to come on here and introduce my daughter before she wakes up!
Her name is the middle name to honor my cousin who passed away in February. She was 7lbs 6oz at birth and is now 7lbs 4oz.
Here's the birth story in a nutshell-
I went to the doc on Monday night and was almost 100% effaced. I basically begged him to get the baby out- I was sooo uncomfortable and just wanted it over with.
He told me he would be at the hospital on Wednesday, so to call him in the morning and he'd have me come in to be checked. We got there at about 9:45am and after registering and getting changed, his associate came in to do an exam. She said I was 2cm and having semi-regular contractions. She went to the OR to ask him if I should be admitted. About a half hour later he came, did his own exam-during which he stripped my membranes (ouch!) and declared I was actually almost 4cm and having regular contractions. He admitted me and ordered a low dose of pitocin.
After awhile I got in a L&D room and was told it would be hours before I delivered. I was feeling perfectly fine, not feeling hard contractions and just waiting. They started the pit and kept slowly increasing it. Sometime around 3ish he came in and broke my water- which was weird and made me feel like I was peeing the bed all day. I was fine for the next 2 hours or so and suddenly I could barely breathe the contractions came on hard. I asked for the epidural- which was no fun either. Unfortunately, it only helped for about 15 minutes, but she was too low for it to work completely. I felt EVERYTHING *down below* and it was NOT fun. The doc checked me after a little while and declared me at 8cm.
About 10 minutes later, I could actually feel her descending and had an insane urge to push. They called the doctor and he came and checked me and said I was fully dilated, ready to push.
Pushing her out was a painful, but absolutely incredible experience. It is completely beyond description. I did end up with an episiotomy, which I didn't even know he did until he was stitching me up afterwards. She also got stuck and had to be manhandled a little bit to get her out so she wouldn't lose oxygen. That was really scary, and my poor baby girl ended up with a fractured collar bone. She needs to be wrapped in an ace bandage 24/7, for the next 3-6 weeks.
She is already one week old today, and I feel like everything is already moving too quickly. I am so astonishingly in love with her- it constantly brings tears to my eyes. This tiny little person is worth all I have endured to get here- infertility, miscarriage, pregnancy worry and discomfort and the pain of labor. The love I feel for her is incredible.
Anyway- I'll stop gushing now. Here are some pictures of my little angel's first week.
P.S. She was born with a little mohawk, but it has since gone away. I wish she still had it!

Congratulations Jen!! She's so beautiful! I have to say, I was in Florida last week and I was thinking about you lol. I said I wonder if she had the baby and I hope everything goes ok.  So happy for you and I love her name! very pretty!
