Introducing My Sweet Baby Boy!
First off Im so sorry I have been MIA. It has been a long crazy week and finding the time to get on the computer has been difficult.
My water broke last Saturday at 40w2d. Pitocin started not long after since I was hardly dilated and not consistently contracting. A LONG 32 hours later without a bite to eat and drop of liquid (minus ice chips), Jack Wendall came screaming into the world at 8 pounds even 22 and a quarter inch long.
The word C-Section came up several times because I was stuck at 6cm dilated for hours and my water had been broken for too long. The nurse told me if I had any other doctor I would have been a C-section and all the other nurses had a bet it would end that way. Thankfully my doctor gave me a little more time against his better judgement and we finally made progress.
Two days after we left the hospital his weight dropped to 7lb2oz (thanks to being clueless about nursing. I guess he wasnt getting enough) and his jaundice level peaked to a 19 and we were forced to put him under the lights. Instead of admitting him back in the hospital we were given the option to have a UV blanket delivered to the house and he has been hooked up ever since. We are hoping he can come off this tomorrow. Its very hard to take care of a newborn that has to be plugged in 24/7. My heart breaks every day when the nurse draws blood from his little foot but he is looking better every day and his weight is back up to 7lb11oz!
That said I would like to introduce my sweet baby boy, Jack!

Okay, he is just gorgeous! And so long!!! Wow!! You can see how long those legs are! Amazing!
And don't worry about the jaundice. Lots of babies when my DS was in NICU had the jaundice and were under the lights. It'll go away soon. DS was so close a few times to going under the lights as well. And soon enough, as someone wise told me when DS was in NICU, this will all be a blip on the radar and you'll be enjoying your baby boy without being plugged in! Congrats!!!!!!

He is so adorable! Congratulations to you!
My daughter, Emily, was also jaundice and had to be under the bili-lights in the NICU for the 4 days after my c-section that we were in the hospital. It really stunk. I didn't get to take her in the room with me like the other moms, instead I had to visit her in the NICU. But it all turned out fine and she's a healthy 6 year old now!
Congrats again on your beautiful son!

Aweeeee, he is a sweet one! Congrats! And good for you - having a natural birth! Hope he's all better ASAP!
My little boy was also 8 lbs, and was 7 lbs 4 oz at discharge. He got a little dehydrated, but required no extra care. The first few days of BF are really hard! But don't worry, once the milk comes in I found BFing to be the best experience ever!
