But for a few bucks more you can get an iPad.
A no brainer - at least for someone like me and how I use computers.
What is that new market though?
All it seems to be is an iPhone with a larger screen (that you can't make calls on).
If I am going to cart around a device that is 9 inches, I want to be able to install productivity applications on it, and use it as a laptop, not as just a web browser. (or being forced to only use apps from the apple store.)

The best thing about this device is not the device itself. It's the fact that you can get a $30/month unlimited data plan with no contract required.
That's actually not bad. But the device itself... eh. iPhone apps pretty much means no major productivity stuff like Microsoft Office.

My comments for the device, why would you not buy a netbook or mini laptop for this price.
Like Ave said, the data plan is attractive but the production apps like office would be needed as this is more like entertainment. A simple camera (flip-able) to capture yourself or others is whats missing
iPad may get some sales but this is not groundbreaking stuff here...nothing was invented..they took there bread and butter and made it larger

It's an LED display
It's still emitting light, which is what bothers a lot of people.
It's not as easy on the eyes as an e-reader, not as powerful as a laptop, and not as portable as an itouch or iphone......

eh just looked at it again but i want to play with it in the store. I am thinking of not getting it now unless my cousin (who develops for mac) sells me one for $100-$150.
I really am not a fan of typing touch for lengthy emails/texts, etc. As far as reading it seems like everyone has said you can get a netbook or small laptop for the price (even though i know the price will drop considerably a few months after release since that is what apple does) but people are mac obsessed now so it will sell.

Camera and webcam is what's missing.

Apple's stock rose prior to the unveiling of the iPad but since Wed it has been iTanking. I guess the market is not too optimistic about it. We'll see what happens....

They aren't shipping till March/April which puts the revenues in Q2.
I think they'll sell 2-3.5 million units before the end of the year

This is true. There is a certain segment out there who are part of the Apple "cult" and will literally buy almost anything they put out.
