Re: Iphone battery
I have a brand new iPhone and my battery lasts about one day with a lot of use. I charge it every night when i go to bed.
How old is your phone? Do you use it to listen to music alot. Mine is on my desk at work but Im not listening to music all day with it. My DH is a heavy music listener with his and I know his battery gets drained faster.

I heard the battery life is similar to that of the Iphone .
I just got an Iphone after much hesitation about getting an Ipod. I was not the biggest fan of the Ipod for a few reasons.
Anyway, I got one b/c I liked the GPS function and since I am in a new city, this is a great feature for me. DH also really wanted one too and since his job gave him a cell, he didn't need to buy one. We also got a nice discount through DH's firm.
Well, IMO, I think the battery isn't that great. I got it the other day and the battery went down fairly quickly. Fine I was playing with it lots. I fully charged it last night and when I woke up this morning about 20% of the battery was gone! I had most push functions turned off and email shut off. Now it is midday and it is down to 35%! I checked my email this morning, went on the internet for 10 mins and sent about 5 SMSes! I also made one one-minute phone call. I do not call that heavy usage.
Is this normal?

It is a brand new phone, just got it Monday. I have another Mp3 player and I haven't had a chance to put any music on itunes yet, so no music has been listened to yet.
I am wondering if I got a defective one?
ETA: it is the 3GS.

Yeah, I'll give it one more day, maybe it is one of the apps I have on it. I *think* I shut off all the push functions; I may have had Skype on.

Re: Iphone battery
DH has an iPhone. The first one that came out. Don't know the model.
He also purchased the mophie so he always has backup. It is a battery backup that lasts about one year before the charge doesn't hold anymore. All he has to do is flip a switch and he has a full battery again.

Re: Iphone battery
Have you recently plugged your phone into your computer? Synced it? Did the upgrades? Shut down the phone completely and then restart it?
Any of those things can help if there needs to be something fixed internally, before you run to the MAC store. Also what is your wireless setting on?
If you don't know where to find this:
Go to SETTINGS GO TO wi-Fi should be OFF
if it is on, it is constantly looking for a signal and not just working off the 3G network.

Re: Iphone battery
Turn off the Wifi if not using it
Your phone will keep looking for networks and that helps drain the battery
I have 3G unit, on average I charge my phone every other day

Re: Iphone battery
About a day, but it all depends on how long I'm on the internet for.

I have the iphone 3g and it lasts about 1 day. I charge it every night. To conserve you should also turn off the bluetooth when not in use. DH barely gets 1 days' worth on his 3g but he uses it a lot for work emails. He got a mophie juice pack and that extends the battery life a bit. But in less than a year we have returned it 3 times for not charging so it's not the best poduct out there.

Re: Iphone battery
I did have the wi-fi on last night, so that could very well be it. I didn't have it on a network, but I had it on in the settings section. I'll charge it tonight and see what I wake up with.
I can't just run to the MAC store as it is about 4 hours away, so I'll try syncing and switching power on and off if that doesn't work.
Does the GPS function drain the battery? I have been using this quite a bit b/c I am in a new city.
Thanks again!

Re: Iphone battery
I had an iphone 3G and now I have the 3GS. I noticed with both my phones that in the beginning the battery would drain pretty quickly, but over time it seems to hold the charge better. I have noticed that if I am using the internet alot it uses a lot of battery, or if you are in an area where there is little or no service it will keep searching and that drains it too.
Here are some things I did to save battery life:
Turn off Wifi and bluetooth if you are not using them, the bluetooth alone being on uses a lot of battery.
Turn off push notifications. Push notifications makes the phone constantly update looking for emails and updates. Unless you need to know at every moment when an email comes in, you don't need it on. You can just press the button for email and it will load them manually. Also, if you have any applications that use push notifications like AIM or some others, you can turn those off too.
Hope this helps!
