Iphone questions
I was thinking of getting DH an Iphone for father's day/birthday but I really know nothing about them-or cell phones (I have a blackberry but it's work issued and I don't do anything but check my email or make phone calls).
Can he use it with any cell phone service?
If he has to change services can he transfer his phone number?
Anything I should know/be wary of?

Right now I think it's still with ATT
Only if the current service provider lets him take his # with him. Usually the contract with the current provider needs to be over.
ATT is so so service depending where you live. So people love it others hate it. My bf has the iphone and he's 95% happy.
I will say it is an awesome phone and my contract is up with sprint this week and I am thinking of getting a iphone myself

Re: Iphone questions
New iphones will hit the market in June/July
You can tansfer your cell number, government made that possible about 4 years ago - can take up to 24 hours for the number to work on the new service
ATT is still sole provider and most likely will be through the rest of this year

Totally agree. My hubby and i have the iPhone and we both love it (except for the 5% of the time when we don't have service or dropped calls) but a friend of ours who lives in Babylon hates it... says he never has serivce, never gets texts at the time they're sent and never had a call not be dropped.

Re: Iphone questions
my DH & I have them and we love them. Right now it's only for AT&T but that may change in the fall...it's still up in the air if they allow Verizon to sell them as well.
This is seriously hands down the best phone I have ever had, I don't even know How I functioned before it
The typing, it's takes a while to get used to the touch screen...but the iPhone auto correct feature can be fun at times when they think you're trying to spell some random SAT word and insert it into the message when you're trying to say something completely different

Re: Iphone questions
I just switched from Sprint to AT&T for the iPhone. So far I really really LOVE the iPhone. The design is so intuitive and the apps are great (way better selection than the apps that Sprint has for their droid phones).
I really liked Sprint for their plan- I thought the data plan was super affordable, but I was able to get on my dad's small business plan and get the iPhone- it costs about $50/month for the unlimited texting and the data plan and it's $10 for the line.
However, if you are a stand-alone (no add'l lines) and getting the iPhone it's about $100/month for unlimited text, the data plan and the minutes... I think that is pretty steep.
I live in Amityville and don't think the service is any worse or any better than what I have with sprint.. but I know my BFF has one too and gets no signal in her own apartment buidling in West Village.

Re: Iphone questions
Honestly, I dont know how I survived this long without an iphone. I always had either a BB or another phone with internet/media package, but this phone, hands down, is the best phone EVER. It's so user friendly, so innovative, and I have no complaints about dropped calls. I def recommend it.

Re: Iphone questions
Unless you buy an unlocked phone which is very expensive and voids the iphone warranty you must use AT&T service. He can defintely keep his cell phone number though. DH and I both did with no problem.
