ipsy vs. birchbox

I did birchbox for a year and didn't renew it. It loved it but, after a while I felt like I was getting the same stuff and I only like 1-2 products a month.

I am allergic to perfume and I wanted to be able to say NO perfume and I couldn't.

Tell me about ipsy... Do you like it?

Does anyone have comparisons between the two?

Update: I went with ipsy because I was getting tired off all the lotions and perfumed with bb. I got my first box and it was full of makeup. Full sized blush and nail polish and a sample hair oil and shimmer powder. I am so pleased. It's is what I wanted! I have enough wrinkle creams and stuff. I wanted to try new makeup.

But I am confused... You can't buy the stuff directly from ipsy?? And what are all the pis of the items about? Is there anything to th website at all worth exploring? Or is it just teenagers posting makeup pics?

I've been getting Birchbox for almost a year now & I really like it. Yeah, sometimes you get a box that's just okay, but I've had more great boxes than bad.

Re: ipsy vs. birchbox

I went with Ipsy for a few reasons. You can cancel anytime and alot of people were mentioning that they were getting edible items in their Birchbox and I'm not interested in that or perfumes. Someone on here posted a link to all the different subscriptions out there doing the pros and cons. It helped.

ETA: Found the link

I signed up for ipsy and was going to sign up for birchbox as well but after reading that you only get samples with birchbox, I decided to stay with ipsy. My first bag was in January and I calculated that there were $30+ worth of products in there - regular size lotion, full size nail polish, concealer brush, etc.

Re: ipsy vs. birchbox

I only joined Ipsy 2 months ago but I like Birchbox more because I feel like they include more products in their boxes..I also LOVED the Ghiardelli chocolates in my last box...I bought 2 products from Birch based on the sample (the Marcelle BB cream and a perfume) whereas none of the Ipsy products impressed me enough to consider buying the full size version.

I am becoming a subscribtion box junkie though thanks to this site:

http://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/

I also sub to Glossy Box and food/nature boxes like Graze.com and Bestowed.com, and recently added Le Parcel (it's basically a monthly box with tampons/pads for your period.,I am too lazy to keep track of when I'm running low on tampons lol).

Usually they send out an email with an opportunity to purchase the items directly from the manufacturer with a special promo code for a discount. The email comes about 2 weeks after you get your bag.
