Iron rich foods for toddler
I havent given my 19mth old any red meat yet. Have any of you moms not included red meat yet and if so what foods to you give your little ones that are rich in iron?
TIA

I don't feed my 18-month DS much red meat, just meatballs and to be honest I haven't really thought about it, but DS eats the following foods, which I think have iron in them:eggs, peas, tomatoes, and raisins.

Of that list DD will only eat peas and raisins....she is a nightmare eater...I have spent the last 20mins chasing her around the room trying to get her to eat something!! I know this is not the way to do it but she hasnt eaten properly today since breakfast...so frustrating.

Re: Iron rich foods for toddler
how about iron fortified cereal? Green leafy vegetables, broccoli... DD only gets meatballs and she doesn't really like the beef ones, only turkey meat...

My son won't touch lentils, but I can sometimes sneak in spinach by making a "white and green pizza." I put ricotta, mozzerella, and spinach on a pizza crust and bake it. It doesn't include a ton of spinach, but it's in there.

Re: Iron rich foods for toddler
It's what my OB told me when my I was pregnant and my iron was low. Apricots are a definite...they are on all the high iron food lists. I, myself, haven't seen watermelon on a list but the doc said so.
