Is 5 weeks to early to hear the heartbeat?

Hi Girls, I just got my BFP from my second round of IVF and I am going into tomorrow to have my first sono. They wanted to do it Monday since that is the only day next week the Dr is there but I can't be in late so they said I can come in this Friday. I would only be 5 weeks, 5 days...,do you think that is too early to detect a heartbeat? They should also be able to tell if there is one or two at that point too, right?

Likely they will see it - but not hear it. But you never know

ETS: And it may be too early to see it as well so don't worry if you don't. I had a sono at 6 wks with DC2 and saw just a sac

Thanks! I figured worse case if they didn't hear it I would have to go to one of the other locations next week which is fine but DH really wants to be there and he is starting new job next week so he won't be able to get out early or take off. Thanks again!

Yes, that too early.
At that point, all you will most likely see is a gestational sac and a yolk sac.
The heart doesn't even begin to beat until sometime during the 5th week, so you probably won't even see it then.

At my sono at 5w4d we only saw a sac and yolk sac, at 6w6d we saw the baby and the heartbeat as well. I think you might or might not.

At 5w5d we saw the heartbeat and at 6w5d we could actually hear it.
