Is anyone else's dog obsessed with other dogs?

My boxer is obsessed with seeing other dogs. We try to bring him to the dog park as often as we can but he has alopecia and we get strange looks and whispers (last time we went someone actually said "what the hell is wrong with that dog? in front of us). My dog loves to see other dogs so much. When we're in the car I tell him when there's another dog close by and he freaks out! He also remembers where all other dogs live in our neighborhood and looks for them like crazy when we're on a walk. I wish I could plan a play date with other dogs! Does anyone else have a dog that is super fixated on seeing and/or interacting with other dogs.

Aww, number 1, it sounds like you have a GREAT dog! Don't let stupid people bother you! You're a great pet owner and that's what matters.

I have a Boxer/English Bulldog and my little Jeter would LOVE a playdate! We go to Blydenburgh as often as possible. Also, he goes to Bed, Bathe and Behave for Doggie Day Care. He LOVES it there and he gets to play with lots of other dogs of all types and sizes. That might be a great option. Rebecca (the owner) is wonderful. I love taking my baby there!

My dog absolutely adores other dogs. We have a couple of dogs we do playdates with but I wish we had more. I don't like the dog park because there are many people that bring their dogs there that I feel shouldn't. Playdates are so much safer! We live in Centereach, drop me an FM if you are close and maybe we could arrange a playdate. I have a field spaniel.

That's my dog. He yelps like he got hit by a car when he sees another dog.

I say the hell what people say about him! Take him to the dog park. Dogs don't discriminate.

Any chance you can adopt a friend for him? That's what we did.

Yesss.. my dog looooooves all other dogs..any size and breed. One day he got out of the house and we were looking for him.. we ended up finding him on our neighbors porch looking for their dog.. He also goes crazy when another dog is in a car next to us.

First, what is wrong with people? I get so defensive when people say things about my dog.

And yup my dog is definitely doggy obsessed. We took him to puppy kindergarten at an early age and he came away having no fear of other dogs (yet, he's shy with people!).

My dog is a 15lb cavalier and his BFF is an 80lb lab. It's our neighbors dog. Whenever my dog gets out of the backyard, he goes next door to their house to see if their dog is out. If he isn't, he comes right back. It's the cutest thing.

We've always had playdates for Brinkley with LIF member's dogs, other people I met on the internet too. DH used to walk him past a house about five blocks from us and their Boxer always wanted to play so they used ot have impromptu playdates in the yard while the 'parents' chatted.

You should check out Meetup.com and see if there is a Boxer group. I know there are at least two general ones depending on your location and how far you would be willing to travel.

If not, create your own Meetup group! Sounds like there are enough people here to participate.
