Carbonara is soooooooo hard to get right! I either get it too creamy or too eggy!!!
I am also crap at Dance Dance Revolution, which is something I love to do, however its not food related.

i love singing but im horrible -i sound like a dying cow- as my mom told me when she heard my singing from my walkman years ago... lol
also cooking , although i like to do it and i consider myself decent, ive had many major flops. trust me!
you need to find recipes and websites that work for you. the more you cook the better youll be. i PROMISE! you get more comfirtable with it.
i used to be the person that if a recipe says 5 minutes per side, id literally wait 5 mintes exactly. then the meat would be undercooked. its allbout adjusting the recipe to your own kitchen and a combonation of trial and error..... and there will be error!
when you figure out how long things take to cook or what things look like when they are cooked perfectly youll get more comfortable. it takes time..took me at least 2 years to develop my skills and get comfy.
start with very easy recipes and techniques...and then build on that. also use recipes with few ingredients. thne build on that as well.
good luck!!

Oh I totally buthchered carbonara the other night. DH will usually put a smile on and eat anything I make even if he hates it, but he couldn't do this. I finally tolf him he really didn't have to eat it!! I'm no chef although I do like to cook now and then. I think sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Practice makes perfect! Tonight make a dish you have made before that always comes out great- I bet you'll feel much better!!! Don't give up!

Re: Is anyone horrible at something they love? (please dont move this post - I dont know where it belongs)
I taught myself to cook, and love cooking.... Now I can honestly say I think I am a very good cook...
BUT, I started cooking and experimenting at age 12... and got my first gourmet magazine and cookbook at age 14!
Learning how to cook is totally trial and error. you have to learn dozens of techniques, dozens of master sauces, dozens of classical spice combo's, and most of all... how to taste a sauce, dissect the flavors, and figure out what component is 'off' and adjust accordingly.
I don't think I really mastered those things until about age 30.
so don't get discouraged!!!! And enjoy yourself in the kitchen. I suggest you pick a cuisine and concentrate on it. (italian? french? cuban?) That way, you master the limited cooking techniques of that particular region, and you aren't overwhelmed.
that's exactly how I taught myself how to cook french, hungarian, jamaican, persian, indian, and ethiopean food! each nationality took at least 2 years of tinkering, but I swear I can now cook like a native now.
so keep your chin up and have fun!

You have to keep trying and try not to beat yourself up over this. Trust me everyone has days when what they are trying to make doesn't come out the way that they want it to.
