Sorry but no, I wouldn't do that for Christmas Day. I would serve a full meal. I would definitely do just apps on like New Years though.
Omg PP you had a baby a week ago and are hosting Xmas??! I was walking around with greasy hair and a half open bath robe for weeks after I had my babies. More power to you, and congrats!

If I went to someones house and they served me a whole bunch of appetizers I would be happy.
A. I don't have to cook.
B. I always eat too many appetizers and then am too full to eat the meal anyway.

Personally I would love it but I can see how some people would be disappointed to not have a sit down dinner on Christmas day.

Congrats! Hope you guys are doing well but that's crazy.
When I was due with my second a week before Christmas I planned on hosting Christmas eve (assuming i wasnt in the hospital at the time) but that was my choice and I had time to plan and prepare. Plan was to make and freeze a lasagna beforehand and have my parents bring garlic bread and salad. Baby came before thanksgiving so I was more than ready to host by Christmas eve lol.

This exactly!
I think it's perfect! You know your guests and you know what they'd like.
I asked once on here the same thing about a party. I wound up still doing the apps and there was so much food still left over and everyone loved it. Enjoy! I love a good cocktail party anyway where people can socialize, eat, drink and have fun.

Personally, would love It. I love apps. Love the casualness of them too. But it wouldn’t fly in my family. You know your guests - do you think they would like it? If not, you can make an easy entree out of baked ziti and a good meat filled sauce, garlic bread and salad. No need for a roast and a bunch of sides that way.

I would love it. My family are appetizer people. We do that for New Years Eve, Superbowl, etc. I normally love the appetizers and fill up on that anyway over the regular courses. I say, as long as you have multiple rounds of different appetizers you will be good to go.

We never did just apps. But whenever our family gets together for Christmas, we never cook. We order wraps and salads. Makes it so much easier.
I think apps are perfectly acceptable. Whoever doesn't like it, can host next year

Same here! My husband is Swiss so we're doing a Swiss Christmas dinner - or as traditional as I can make it - so his family would never do just apps. They don't understand the concept of American appetizers. "Eat food before the food?" My father in law once said. Maybe that's why they are all so fit

Def depends on your family. Mine loves it thankfully - but we are very informal people.
In years past i would do apps and a full course meal - so i would be slaving in the kitchen ALL DAY, serve dinner and everyone would be so full from all the apps, everyone barely ate! F*** That! LOL
So the past couple years I do only apps and dessert. I do heavy apps though so its filling. Pigs in a blanket, Brushetta, Tomato & Mozz, Cocktail Meatballs, Mozz Sticks, Shrimp, stuffed Mushrooms...lots of choices. and they are easy to prepare the day before so I can actually enjoy the day with my family instead of cooking all dang day!

It's great for a smaller group but I tried this one Christmas for my family and it was a giant PITA. I spent more time in the kitchen throughout the night than if I had just made the dang dinner.
