Re: Is anyone nervous about having kids
That's awesome that your DH is so pro-kids. Mine was soooo scared that I had to decide when I was ready to really talk to him about it and he finally said OK let's do it. WE WERE SCARED. We were nervous, it's all normal no matter how much you want them. After we had him we wondered if we could be good parents. Sometimes we still wonder if we're doing the right thing and I know that wont ever go away. You'll know when/if the time is right for you, but you will most likely still be nervous about it. I always think of how nervous I was to get married, and this is 100x more of a life changing event! I will say though, totally worth it!!

Re: Is anyone nervous about having kids
It's very scary especially because our little one could come at any time now. Josh and I constantly look at each other and are like "Is this really happening?"

Every time my coworkers daughters hang up the phone on her she tells me to have LOTS of kids I don't want children hanging up on me.

Re: Is anyone nervous about having kids
I am very nervous. My situation is a little more complicated, but I totally understand where you are coming from.
Enjoy being married!! You'll know when the time is right. There is never a perfect time, but things have a way of falling in to place.

Re: Is anyone nervous about having kids
It is very scary. I plan to TTC this spring and now that its getting closer I'm freaking out. I was on major baby mode last summer and now that I think we may start I'm freaking out about the actual act of carrying and having the baby and the realities of what it means. At the same time, as everyone is saying - you'll never be 100% ready - I like the idea of being at least 70% ready

Can I just add something....I have a baby, and I'm still enjoying my marriage. Completely. I just need to throw that out there because I keep seeing people write, "Enjoy your marriage." Just a friendly little sidenote from me that you still enjoy your marriage after a baby, I promise!

Re: Is anyone nervous about having kids
I was SOO nervous about having a baby. You're really never ready but everything all fits into place after the baby is born. Then when you look at that little face, you think...how have I waited so long without this?
But be married for a few years...enjoy life...travel. After that, it's all about the baby.

Re: Is anyone nervous about having kids
i dont think there's such a thing as being 100% all around ready. i think i'm 100% mentally ready, but only 70% financially ready. and that's what holding me back. babies are expensive! and i want to make sure that we can provide everything that a baby needs/wants. when it happens, it happens. God will bless us when he feels its time.

Re: Is anyone nervous about having kids
I am so not ready and as much as I LOVE children and KNOW that I WANT children, I am completely terrified of carrying them for 9 months, the delivery, praying for healthy children, hoping you raise them right... it scares me!
ETA: we will be waiting a few years, but when it happens I know it will be the most exciting time!

Re: Is anyone nervous about having kids
Most people's kids are my birth control.
Having said that though, we are planning on TTC soon.

Re: Is anyone nervous about having kids
I'm not nervous to be a mom...I'm more nervous about being pregnant....I've always loved kids and I know one day i'll make a great mom...but the 9 months prior to becoming a mom is scary for me....I guess I just have it stuck in my head that I'm going to be miserable the whole time..idk. We'll find out in a few years

Re: Is anyone nervous about having kids
I think its totally normal to be nervous about raising a child. its something that needs to be taken seriously and if you are not ready for that, then you need to be honest with yourself about it.
i don't think there is ever a perfect time, ie emotional or financial, but i think you know when its right for you.

Re: Is anyone nervous about having kids
I have always been nervous for different reasons.
DH wanted to have a baby right away when we met. I was still unsure.
My age is also a big concern.
Now I believe we will adopt at any point when we are ready. The nervousness about carrying a child and health issues has gone away for me, now that I am beginning to think about adoption.

Re: Is anyone nervous about having kids
I always thought I wanted three - now, honestly, I will be happy with 1, possibly 2. I just want to be the best mom possible and I don't know if I can personally handle more than one. we shall see...

Rachel, I completely agree with this 100% I think the problem is that some people don't anymore, and those are the people that make it feel negative. Like for example, my co-worker has a 1 year old child, has been married for about 2 years. Her mother lives with them and they NEVER go out and have "quality" alone time together anymore.
As much as a child can make a marriage even happier and grow, it's important to keep in mind that you must nurture your relationship with your husband as well. I think some people tend to forget this.
