Is anyone nervous/anxious about labor/delivery?
Well im scared of not being able to handle the pain but aside from that, people tell me stories dont know why of things going wrong and then i need to stop watching all those labor/delivery shows which add more to the anxiety. I just remind myself that tons of women have labored and delivered and so can I. The doctors keep close on eye on everything during the pregnancy and during labor that nothing could go wrong. Does anyone feel the same way?

Re: Is anyone nervous/anxious about labor/delivery?
I can only give this advice, as painful as it can be, the end result makes you forget the second it's over.
I was in labor for 36 hrs with one and 8 hrs with the other...didn't matter. I prolly said I couldn't do it a hundred times, prolly thought of giving up a hundred times, prolly said I will never do it again a million times. When it was over, I said...that wasn't terrible, can't wait to have my next.
Now I'm going to be having my third, once again I'm totally like, what was I thinking!

Re: Is anyone nervous/anxious about labor/delivery?
i worried about it a little with my son and avoided all those shows becuase i thought it would scare me more - i was really scared to get the epidural and figured i would go natural
I had to get the epi because i was laboring fast and needed 4 hours for antibitics because i was strep b postive- the epi was so easy to get and not painful at all - i was able to rest even though i was 10 cm while the baby slowly descended further - he did not drop before my water broke - pushing was easy for me - it was work but the epi made it so it was not painful - i was eating an ice pop and laughing with my dh and a friend between pushes - i pushed for an hour and half but it was exciting - i wanted to know if my son was a boy or girl and what he looked like - the nurses and docs were great - it was exciting to see his head - i never though i would want to see my son crowning but in the moment i did - they offered a mirror and it was great to see - we positioned it so i could see but dh could not
to me it was no where near as bad as i thought it would be -

Yes but not really. We want to have kids and I am already pregnant so I've acknowledged that it is something I will have to deal with when the time comes and I have put it out of my mind at this point. It's pretty much the one thing I havent stressed about.

Re: Is anyone nervous/anxious about labor/delivery?
I think everyone is nervous about labor and delivery, it's natural to have anxiety about something as major as bringing a person into this world!! Especially if you're a first-timer, it's totally normal to be anxious about anything you've never done before.
We took our first lamaze class last weekend and one of the first things that came out of her mouth was DO NOT watch A Baby Story or any of those shows.

Re: Is anyone nervous/anxious about labor/delivery?
I refuse to watch any of the pregnancy/labor/delivery reality tv shows b/c I know they will totally stress me out!
In all honesty, Im more nervous about the hospital stay than the l&d! My hospital doesn't let the husbands stay overnight, and I dread having a roommate and having to share a shower & bathroom!
