i personally haven't, but i know others who have.
my cousin drives to philly every so often for philly cheesesteaks. and i've had a few coworkers drive to NJ for a dairy queen, lol.
enjoy your hot dog if you end up going!

I did it!
My best friend and I drove to Jersey because we were fed up with the commercials torturing us 
It was like a mini roadtrip. We had a blast!

I haven't...YET...but I have talked to friends about taking a road trip...why do we have to see the commercials if we can't easily access this stuff??? It's just not fair! LOL...what's the closest Sonic to LI? I think maybe NJ?

Whenever we go to Lancaster PA, we make sure we hit up all the food spots that we dont have here on LI.... we even make the 1 hr 1/2 drive to Philly to get cheese steaks at the famous Pats and Gino's. While in Lancaster we hit up Sonic a few times over our stay, as well as DQ. There is a Cracker Barrel there too but we never seem to have time for it ..
About once a month we make a 40 min trip to bklyn to get these delicious hot roast beef sandwiches, lol

DH and I so would.. sometimes when you have a hankering.. u just need to do it DH and I drove to Staten Island for Denino's pizza..

I heard down by the Southern State. But IDK where I heard it!
I have wanted to run to jersey for sonic but haven't yet.
But every time we do to Disneyland we eat at Sonic at least once.

Same here. I have Perkins, Dairy Queen, Cracker Barrel AND Sonic all within a 30 minute drive and have never once felt an urge to go to any of them. Maybe I need to trade places with some people! 
ETA: And the ever-popular Denny's is practically down the street too....yet never been.

Me too. However...DQ is only about 5 minutes away from me, and I have been there often   I'm in Bergen County, NJ and I grew up in Holbrook..the drive is pretty quick. You can also fill up on gas while here in NJ. Cheaper than LI and all full-serve stations

Sonic is going to be on Deer Park Ave, just south of Commack Road - right by the Joyce Leslie shopping center. The building is up, I read somewhere they are hoping for an April opening!
Can't wait, I haven't been to Sonic since I lived in Colorado!!

Sometimes coming back from the city we'll stop at the one in Kingston (going back upstate)
Anyways, I like their drinks, like the slushies, but the food IMO is kind of gross.
