Is he too young? Please help!! Food related

DS will not eat anything new except the 5 things that he has been eating for about a year. I cant get him to try anything new at all. He refuses to eat ANY veggies at all. I need him to eat veggies as this helps with #2, which he has been struggling with lately. Is he too young to make him sit at the table and not let him leave until he tries it? He is 2yrs and 4 mos.

My ped says this makes them dislike eating but I just dont know how else to get him to try it.

I am really trying to push the veggies with my DS also. I just recently started using Jessica Seinfelds cook book. Some things are going over well, and others not so well.

I do give him veggie juice daily. I buy fruitables by Adam & Eve. I also buy the Naked brand, or Bolthouse juice.

I also notice that he will eat anything that he can dip in salad dressing. So I give him raw veggies and salad a lot.

My problem with DS is that he wont try ANYTHING new. It is SOOOO frustrating. I made him sit at the dinner table for almost 1.5 hours to try and get him to try 1 stupid carrot dredged in butter. He was sooooo stubborn and refused. I would love to try the Seinfeld book but he doesnt eat enough foods for me to try and sneak veggies into it. I gave up after 1.5 hours and then I just felt like the worst mom because I told him he wouldnt be able to leave until he ate it and I didnt live up to that. I just dont know if he is too young for this method.

I am the nut at the park who's kid has peas in his snack cup.

take away goldfish...all starchy snacks, and when you go out give him a carrot.

I would not force anyone to sit at the table...who wants that drama, you know?

but I would leave his plate there and if he's looking for something to snack on later, I bring plate back out.
