Is it a complete waste to take a 5 month old to Dutch Wonderland or Sesame Place?

After seeing all the pictures of Sesame Place and Dutch Wonderland on here, I want to take DS too but he's only 4.5 months old.

Would it be a complete waste to take him this summer? What is the youngest age that you would recommend taking a child?

IMO - It probably would be a complete waste. I would definately wait until he is older.

Honestly, yes I think it would be a waste, unless you had an older child coming too and you were just bringing the baby along.

At that age, every little thing they get to look at or touch is such a source of wonder, you really don't need to go to expensive theme parks.

yes....both are geared towards toddlers...And I cant see what your DC would get out of it at that age.

I think 1yo+ is a good time to go. Anyting earlier and I don't think a child would get it.

I think it depends on the child. I do think that DC should probably be walking though (But I haven't been, just my opinion!)

I took DD to Sesame Place and she was 17 months. It was a good age. She liked the characters, could go on some of the rides. However by 3pm she was DONE.

I disagree. I think 3 or even 4 is the best time to go. They can pretty much do almost everything at this age, and get the most out of it. I think if I would have taken DD last summer, it wouldn't have been as good. JMO

We were there last week - DD is 18 months. She LOOOOVED it and I will definitely go again, but I definitely think that if we went last year would have been a waste of time and money.

We took my 14 month old (now 15 month old) there last month and it was a complete waste for him. We took my daughter to Sesame at 2 and she had a great time. We took her to Dutch at 3 and 4 and at 4 she could go on EVERYTHING and LOVED it!

Re: Is it a complete waste to take a 5 month old to Dutch Wonderland or Sesame Place?

We went to Sesame when DD was 2. She loved all of the caracters ON TV, she would not go up to them at all!!!!! She also did not want to go on any rides. All she wanted to do was hang out in the pool all day. I felt like it was a waste for her.

We went to Dutch Wonderland this year, when she was 3. What a difference!!!!! She went on all the rides and loved them. She went up to the people dressed up. She just really enjoyed everything about the whole day.

All in all, determining whether to start going at 1.5, 2, 3 probably depends alot on your child but I think 5 months is definately too young to experience it.

I agree.....We live 30 minutes from Jenkinson in Pt. Pleasent, NJ (it is a much smaller scale of Dutchwonderland and on the beach) and we went 3 or 4 times last year and DD was between 11 & 13 months when we and DS was 25 months. DD had so much. She was able to go on a few rides by herself and then you can go on some too with them.
Maybe make a day trip out of Pt Pleasant go on the beach hang out and then take her to the rides. It will be a shorter and much cheaper trip.

I would say that 2 was a good age. DS#1 was a little over 2 and my other son was 9 months. The 9 month old didn't do anything except eat-lol.

DS#1 had a pretty good time though but I personally wouldn't go until DC was 2. JMO

We took DD to Sesame Place when she was 18mo and honestly, it was a waste of money.

I'd wait until DC is 2yo at least.

deinfitely a waste. We took DS too DW this year (he was 21 months) and he was just old enough to enjoy most of it.

I think at 5 months it would be waste - you are better to hit places like the aquarium where he can look at the fish and the colors etc.

What is a better age - honestly I think that is a really a difficult question to answer. Some kids do well at those kind of places at 15 months others at 3. You really need to know your child. We took our DD to disney at 15 months and she LOVED it - she was dancing and clapping on many of the rides and asking to go again. But I know other people who took their 18 month olds and 2 year olds and their children didn't enjoy it at all b.c they were uncomfortable in crowds and didn't like rides. So you really have to know your child and there is no right or wrong age.

Wait until next summer. DS was 20 months when we took him to Dutch Wonderland and Sesame Place. He loved them. I think over a year is fine.

Probably. We haven't been to either yet, but we are going to Sesame Place next week. DS is 4 months so I was checking out the website to see if there is anything for him to do too while we're there & most things said "No Infants". Plus, at that age they don't understand it & won't remember it. If you want to go someplace, the zoo or the aquarium are probably better options.
