Is it just me or is selling more stressful than buying?
DH & I bought our home last year....to be honest...it was smooth all around. We were looking for less than a month, found our house, closed, no problems.
In this past year my Grammie passed away. I'm the sole beneficiary, so I've been trying to do the upkeep on the house upstate.
I'm finding selling to be a lot more stressful than buying ever was. Currently we're waiting on the house to be transferred over. We have two offers on the house, which is awesome, but if the papers don't get moving it could be 60-90 days before a closing even happens.
The thought of this house being on the market for over a year...with NO offers. Now TWO are in & we could possibly lose them if things don't get moving is soooo stressful!
ETA: Oh & to top it off we're in between realtors. We're getting harrassed by a third realtor who doesn't want to share his commission...even though we asked him to contact our previous realtor who still has her sign on our property & has the keys.

Re: Is it just me or is selling more stressful than buying?
I'm sorry about your grandmother. I can relate- DH and I are trying to sell so we can move back to LI, and it's been so stressful. Our house is so much nicer than it was when we bought, and we've accepted that we're going to take a hit on it, but some of the potential sellers are making us nuts! I have seen several houses on LI that I think we'd be happy to own, but we can't seem to sell this one.
Good luck to you!

It is stressful to sell. For us we have a co-op and we were waiting for the sellers to finally have their packet completed, have them submitted to the management company and FINALLY they went in front of the board last night and they were approved.
I am so glad that this process is going to be over but I'll miss our old place - now it's just our storage unit since our new apt. is just 2 floors down.

Re: Is it just me or is selling more stressful than buying?
Yes, Selling a home is Major Stressful !!! I am stressed by the buyers lying on their mortgage applications, getting their pre-approval or approval. Their letter clearly states approved up to $500k.They want to buy my home, when they go back to get the mortgage, they can only qualify for $350k to $400k. They are so embarrassed they don't want to let the seller know they can't purchase the home. I am also stressed out with the lying REo's too when they are trying to list my home. I am tired of lying REo's telling buyers wrong information when they are looking for a home ( You get to pick the school you want your child to go to) thats just for starters. Sorry, I just had to vent....

Ugh...I feel for you.
It's amazing you mentioned about lying RE agents... We've come across one...saying he's got an offer - site unseen. Because he saw the house was "released" a couple mths ago & says he doesn't want to share the commission w/the agent we were working with. Funny...his "offer" is less than the REAL offer we have. We told him to go fly a kite.

Selling is very, very stressful. Buying is too, but if I had to compare them, IMO selling wins in the stress department.

Selling is definitely worse, at least in this climate, hands down.
I'm sorry about your grandmother.
