Is it just me? (Women and tattoos)
All of a sudden, in the last few years, I see a lot more women tatted up. And I'm not talking about a name on your arm, or a symbol here and there, or even the 1990's popular tramp stamp. I'm talking about women with full-sleeve tats, women with both sleeves tatted, women with the full chests tatted. I have absolutely no problem with their choices of expression. I'm just wondering where did they all come from? I mean, a few years ago it was rare to see a woman with so many tats on her, now it seems like I see a few every day. And I live in NYC, where we see everything. It just seems to me like there has been this explosion recently. Is it due to the popularity of shows like Miami Ink? Have they been brought here from some foreign inked-up land? Where were they all before?
I'm just sayin'....

Re: Is it just me? (Women and tattoos)
For me, I just showed them less. I have 11tattoos (so far) and I can cover them all if I chose to.
And in response to how long, I guess it is in certain "communities." I know a ton of women during the past 20 years or so who are collectors and have full sleeves, backs, etc.

I must be a little slow on the uptake. I got my "tramp stamp" well into the 2000's and I am rather suburban.

I think it's more acceptable. The reason people didn't do it years ago was probably because it wasn't considered "appropriate" (for lack of a better word) or it was considered taboo... now we see people with piercings all over their face and really think nothing of it.
