Is it okay to put meds and vitamis in milk?
DD wont take her meds by mouth (even if it is flavored). So I have been putting them in her bottles.
Does doing that make them less effective? I never asked the ped. and never given any thought to it until now.

I would just be concerned about DC not finishing the entire bottle, and hence, not getting the full dose. Whether it's mixed in the bottle, then put in her stomach, or mixed separately in her stomach, it all winds up mixed together in her stomach.

I would check with your ped because my ped has mentioned that their vitiams should be giving at least an hr before or after they have milk.

Im gonna have to ask because if that was the case, she would never, ever take them. They are nasty to boot.

Iron and milk shouldn't be taken together, so if they have iron in them, I would say no.

When DS was in the NICU the nurses specifically told us to put the iron in his milk....but in the nipple with some milk to make sure he was getting the whole thing.

They are not supposed to but the ped told us we could. We have no other option so anyway we can get something in him is fine.

Milk prevents your body from absorbing the iron if taken together so if you mix the two, chances are the iron isn't being absorbed.

Some meds and vitamins aren't completely absorbed if mixed with milk. What about putting it in juice? I put DS vitamin in juice, my ped told me to if he wouldn't take it

Summer means real milk, whole milk. I think that is different from BM or formula.
