Is it weird to use your first childs middle name for your second baby?

Not pg yet (trying soon!) and all we talk about are baby names.

We loved the name James....but we knew our first son would be John after DH. We then named him John James.

If we were to have another boy, would it be really weird to name his James?? I am not sure about it. DH thinks its absolutely fine...I kind of do too since I like the name so much..

Just wanted to see your thoughts!

Without getting into too much of an explaination....

My sister Debbie and I both have the middle name Dawn...(same mother different father)

My sisters Kathy, Vicki, & Beth all have the same middle name of Rose...(it was their mothers maiden name-we have the same father different mother)

So I totally see nothing wrong with it at all...

If you love the name - absolutely!!!! If we ever have another baby and it's a boy, we want to use our firstborn son's first name as the new baby's middle name

I love that name! If you like it, go for it!

DS's middle name is Patrick, and I love that for a first name too, so if Erin was a boy, that would have been a contender for a first name.

My older Brothers first name is James. My little Brother (from a different mother) name is Loagn James. We(my Dads family) always thought it was weird. I think we felt that way though because it seemed like my Dad was replacing his first son. If they came from the same father and mother I don't thionk we would have thought twice about it. I say its ok! I come from a family of James' so I love that name too!

Funny thing - this is how is worked out for us!!

DD's middle name is Rae (named after DH)
Once we found out we were having a we decided to name him Raymond John (again, after DH), so essentially he will be Ray

two spellings, two genders, same name

I dont think its strange at all...if you love the name go for it!
DH sisters all have the same middle name (3 of them) and it is also MILs middle name she just carried it on in all her girls

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. My kids will have the same middle name. Ava's middle name is my maiden name and any other kids we have will have the same.

I probably wouldn't do it, but that's just me. If you like it, do it!

As a side note, my sister has a son named "Max". She is due this month and wanted to name the new son "Maximus"

It's fine and actually very nice, it's almost like naming him after his big brother.

I think it is fine. If I liked the name I would use it.

What I don't care for is when people use both names just reverse them.

My DS name is Scott Robert...DS #2 will be Dylan Scott. I think it's fine!

I think it's 100% fine! In fact, if/when the time comes for #3, I'm going to try to push for Bridget for a girl, which is DD#2's middle name. I didn't get my way the last time, so...it's worth another shot!!

Personally, I think it is fine! I also like the nickname Jamie for a boy.

We were just at DH's family reunion and his two uncles are John Robert and Robert John

No. My friends sister is doing that and I think it is fine. It's kind of a nice tribute to the first sibling as well!

No, Johns middle name is Joseph, this baby's first name is going to be Joseph I dont think its weird at all
