is it worth getting a 4ft fence in the front yard?
DS is 20 months and loves to run around the front yard...i have a corner property. But because its a corner im constantly running after him to make sure he doesnt run into the street. do you guys think its worth putting up a front yard fence when eventually he will understand to stay on the grass? will it raise the value of my home?

We have thought about putting a split rail fence on the street line, as a mental border, but never got around to it.

i feel like DS will find that a challenge to climb. but it does look nice. is that cheaper than PVC?

We have a corner street. DS NEVER plays on the front lawn.
If I had to do it, I would do a picket fence. We have a white PVC fence 6ft in backyard.

Re: is it worth getting a 4ft fence in the front yard?
It depends. Does anyone else in your area have that? Sometimes they look good, sometimes they dont. Also...depends on the style of the fence, and the height. I think it also varies greatly on the property, if it looks good and will look attractive, desirable to future buyers.
But do I think it's worth it re your DS eventually learning? Yes, I still like the actual border it creates visually and think its a nice way to say "this is mine". Also for a bit of added safety.

my neighbors directly across the street on the corner have a front yard fence and im jealous that her kids can run around freely without any problems. im trying to justify the cost to myself. thanks!

Re: is it worth getting a 4ft fence in the front yard?
Funny you say that. My neighbor just did that and although the fence itself is nice (scalloped picket pvc) I think it detracts from the look of their house. They have a beautiful front yard and home, and I always noticed it when I stopped at the corner. Now all I see is the white of the fence. It could also be because there are very few front yard fences in my neighborhood and I'm really used to how open it is.
Strictly functionality wise, I could see why you like the idea. I thought of it myself with the dogs, but decided against it. I think you would still need to put it off the street 8 to 10 feet (depending on town laws) so would it still be worth it to lose that space?
