Is it worth it (Judgement related)

So, I have a judgement in my favor that I have not collected on. It has been a few years since the judgement was awarded. I got a letter in the mail from some service that can help me collect what is owed to me (approx 3,100). They charge 1/3 of whatever I recieve and there is no retainer. If after 6 months, I have not collected any money, the agreement is voided

do you think it is worth it. I see it as some money is better than none for me.

Ideas, opinions?

Do it. They usually don't charge you unless you collect. They really are like that. We used them for work when we were trying to collect from a customer. Unfortuntatly our customer filed bancruptcy so we didn't get our money..but we didn't have a pay a penny!

You should be able to go through sheriffs office. There is a cost but not sure if it will be more than the company that is offering you the service

If you haven't been able to collect in a few years, I would take a 1/3 loss and have this company do it for me.

I have worked with these collection agencies in the past, and after you give them your initial paperwork they do the rest. They have a good success rate because they are persistent and follow up. They only make money if they can get your money.

It would be better to have 2/3 of your money in your pocket instead of 100% in the pocket of the person who owes you the money.

Yes, I have the paperwork to file with the sheriff. I am not sure how effective that would be since I do not have much info (current address, bank account, etc)

It is worth a shot though. I think I may pay the 60 bucks to file the sheriff's execution and go from there

Absolutely! Would it be a lot of work for you to handle on your own that way you dont have to give up 1/3 of what you will get?

ETA: I just read the rest of the post and see you have been waiting for this money for awhile. I would go with the service. Even if they keep 1/3, you are still getting $$$ back that you otherwise probably wouldnt have.
