is low fat yogurt that bad?

DS is (almost) 14 months and i stopped buying the yobaby yogurt because it's too runny. i don't like to buy the large containers of full fat yogurt because it goes bad before we finish it.

i bought the breyer's flavored kids yogurt without thinking and now i see that it's low fat.

he gets full fat milk and full fat cheese, is it that bad to give him the low fat yogurt?

As long as the child is getting fat elsewhere (milk, cheese, etc) it's fine. There's nothing wrong with eating a low fat product, I think the problem is when the child's entire DIET is low fat. At this age they need some fat.

Re: is low fat yogurt that bad?

LB I found yo baby in 6 oz cups that are now mixed with fruits and veggies and its MUCH thicker than the normal yo baby, I HATED yo baby bc it was so runny...I found it at Waldbaums and so far DD likes it...I have given her low fat but DD is younger than Luca and didn't want to give it to her all the time!!!

Re: is low fat yogurt that bad?

we started with the low fat kids a few months ago and actually just switched to the low fat fruit on the bottom (ds likes it better then anything else).. i dont think it makes that much of a diffeence

They have it Pathmark too, and also a Horizon version which is not runny at all.
With the yobaby, sometimes I stick it in the freezer for a little bit which thickens it up.

Re: is low fat yogurt that bad?

I see nothing wrong with it for the same reasons previously mentioned. The only thing I steer clear of, even for DH an I, is Aspartame (or any other artificial sweetener). It's in a lot of things sugar free and low fat and I prefer a little sugar over the artificial sweeteners.

Ita! I have been putting oatmeal in the yobaby to make it thicker and ds loves it!
