Is there a more durable/permanent replacement for the Swiffer vacum for hardwood floors?

I worship my Swiffer vac (with the vac and disposable pad) for cleaning my hardwoods... I usually own two at a time because the batteries are so crappy and don't last long enough for me to do all my floors.

Each vac seems to only last me a year, year and a half tops..

Is there a similar product that is more long-term? Something that will suck up gunk from my hardwoods but last longer than a year?

a regular canister vacuum with the floor attachment. i only vacuum and mop. i swiffer leave too much behind.
