Is there a political issue...

that you go against your party on?

I am a liberal who is completely in favor of the right to bear arms and against gun control.

A lot of them. I'm pretty middle of the road, about half the time I agree with the Republican party, half the time with Democrats.

I identify myself as a Republican more as an homage to my dad (career military) than anything else.

I'm a Democrat and not for nationalized health care system. I've worked with this industry and know it's not a possibility.

The democrats ARE in favor of capital punishment. Both parties are. (Both presidential candidates are, anyway.)

I used to lobby on death penalty issues and we faced opposition from members of both parties fairly equally. Generally, more democrats are against the death penalty than Republicans are, but on the whole, the death penalty receives bi-partisan support.

Democrats are more likely to introduce bills regarding the death penalty (limiting it, etc.) - but it basically has bipartisan support for the most part -- at least in so far as it staying legal in some form.

I didn't realize that was a non liberal belief. I consider myself liberal but believe in the right to bear arms. I don't think those conviced of violent crimes, domestic abuse etc should be able to have them though. I also don't think the general public should have access to cop killer bullets.

Re: Is there a political issue...

I am a registered Democrat (from when I was 18), but now vote Republican sometimes, but I am pro-choice.

I think there should be more gun control - there is no need for the average person to be ablet to own some of the guns out there that are available....and there should be more strict and thorough background checks.

And when purchasing ammo & guns, they should check your ID. DH and I were upstate and we went to buy bullets for his 9mm (he's NYPD). The clerk was supposed to ask to see his ID and never did, DH bought over 1000 rounds.

And there shouldn't be Universal Healthcare.

Great question. I am republican, but pro-choice and I do not believe homosexuality is a choice.
