Is there anything you can NOT eat as a leftover?

I know a few people that won't eat ANY leftovers. I'm curious if there is anything you can't do as a leftover.

For me, it is white rice. I don't care how it is reheated, I just hate it. I will toss it the first night and I'll make fresh batch.

Definitely salad--terrible leftover. Some things I think change completely as leftovers but I will still eat them (like mac n cheese)....

I don't mind leftovers at all but to me salad, sushi, & steak just can't be saved.

Re: Is there anything you can NOT eat as a leftover?

Never sushi. Eggs ONLY if they are hard boiled - fish only if it is tuna or salmon salad. Never green tossed and dressed salad - but tomato salad and green bean salad, corn salad, avocado salad and bean salad, etc.. are even better then next day!

I can save steak because I generally cook it VERY rare - and then I use the thin sliced leftovers without heating it (in a salad) OR I can warm in by sauteeing with onions, peppers and stuffing it in a fajita.

I use rice.. but generally as an add in - like leftover rice in a soup. Sometimes I reheat it using chicken boullion and toss in some peas, chopped onion, browned and cooked pasta and shredded carrots for a pilaf.

This is what I do too. I will eat the more cooked portion and save the rare parts for the next day. This way when I get it out of the micro, it is perfectly done.

I never have salad leftovers, so that isn't a problem. Chat Icon

I had rice the other night and I went to wrap it up and really got skeeved thinking about having it the next day. Chat Icon That's what brought this up.

Salad only if had dressing on it when it was stored. Salad without dressing is eaten all the time in our house.

French fries. If I go to a diner & can't finish, I never take home the french fries... they don't reheat well at all & taste gross.

Re: Is there anything you can NOT eat as a leftover?

I will eat almost anything leftover. That means I don't have to cook that night and I have some extra time to myself! I would never take home sushi though and I will only eat a leftover salad if it has not touched dressing.

Salad...but that depends on if the dressing was on it or not...

Alot of things like rice and pasta really just depend upon how you are reheating them...Ive those 2 down to a science.

I'll do Sushi but only the next day...

Ohhhh... have you ever tried putting them in the toaster oven? They come out great in there. I like crispy fries though.

I will not eat reheated chicken. I may have it cold if it's grilled or something, but never reheated.Chat Icon I agree about salad, french fries and steak.

Re: Is there anything you can NOT eat as a leftover?

i was going to say nothing (i loooove leftovers, although some things reheat badly and are better cold) but after seeing other responses: french fries.

i dont eat them often, and they might reheat ok in the toaster oven (when i make tater tots i make small portions that we will finish) but microwaved fries are nasty!
