Is this a sign of an ear infection?
My sister told me that when she was watching DS today he was in his exersaucer and she started to vacuum and DS went hysterical. She said he was crying so hard. That she had a hard time getting him to calm down. Then later on she went to blow dry her hair and he started to scream again. She said she always vacuums when he is around.
He does have a cold. Could this be a sign of an ear infection too?
What are some signs of an ear infection?

Re: Is this a sign of an ear infection?
I think it could be. I would take him to get checked it can't hurt.
Hannah's ear infection started as a cold and I had absolutely no signs other then random hysterical crying!!!
From what I understand tugging at their ears and having a hard time swallowing the bottles are signs...as well as fever.
Hannah didn't get a fever until she blew her eardrum. Then yellow/waxy liquid came out of her ear.
Hope he feels better

How old is he? He could be discovering new noises adn they might frighten himnow. You could always ask the Doc what they think.

He is 5 1/2 months.
Jodi....we actually just noticed him playing with his ear about 5 minutes ago. And I've never even seen him touch his ears before.

Hannah was playing with her ears, but the doctor actually told me at her age they could just be exploring. She's a few months younger, so I would take him to get checked. I generally don't go running to the dr and my poor baby was sick for 3 days before I did

Re: Is this a sign of an ear infection?
it could be the noise startled him.....I used to have to show DD the vacuum before vacuuming and tell her it was going to be ok WHILE vacuuming. THEN I held her several times while vacuuming going "Wheee" and making all sorts of fun noises for her to tolerate it.
He may have not been expecting the noise.
Also, DD was an ear player when she got tired. If they start tugging and complaining while tugging it could be an ear infection
