Is this correct Re: christening?
Is it the tradition that the Godparents are supposed to purchase the baby's christening outfit. My MIL mentioned that to me this weekend and I couldn't remember...

Usually (at least among our family & friends), the godmother offers to purchase the gown; godfather usually purchases a cross. But in my opinion - it's always the parents' responsibility if no one is offering.

Re: Is this correct Re: christening?
Thank you - I really wasn't sure... I would honestly prefer to purchase the outfit myself but I wouldn't want to 'take that away' from the godmother if she wants to do it so I'll just wait and see if she offers.
Also - does anyone know - am I supposed to get a special gift for the godparents?

I mailed my sil ( ryans godmother) roses and my brother (rys godfather) ms.fields cookies.... as I gift slash when I asked them...I dont plan on getting them anything else...
In my eyes this is about the child not the godparents...
