is this silly?

I had it in my head that I wanted to start TTC in the summer. But now my best friend is engaged and getting married in October. Is it silly if I wait until her wedding passes? Or should I still try as planned?

I can't stress enough how much I feel you should NOT wait; you do not know how long it will take you to get pg, and even if you do, it'll be a blessing! GL and BD to you! Chat Icon

No I don't think its silly. I actually have been trying for 2 months now with no luck. My Best friend of 29yrs got engaged and is having her wedding early Aug. If I'm not pregno this month were going ot stop trying bc i want 2 be there for her wedding and I don't want to be 9 months pregno at the time. My DH and I will start TTC again in Jan.

Re: is this silly?

Its up to you. Like others have said it may take a while to become pregnant, it might not.

Well, I was trying for 11 months and finally got my BFP. I am due May 28 and I am supposed to be a BM in a wedding on June 10. I never planned it this way, but in the next couple of weeks, I will have to explain it to this bride and hopefully she understands (she had no idea we were TTC).

So no matter how much you plan, you never know what is going to happen.

I don't think its silly- we are waiting out these two months since I would only have a couple of months home with the baby and can't afford not to go back to work. If I wait until Dec. I can collect disablity and stay home until after the holidays-crazy CA laws for school employees.

Not silly at all...just your own preference.

I agree with everyone else. I don't think it's silly at all. You have to do what is right for you.

Re: is this silly?

I'm in a similar situation. My sister is getting married in September. We are trying this month and next month. I just don't want to be due around her wedding date. I def don't want to miss it and I also don't want to take anything away from her special time. I understand how you are feeling, but I also hear what the other ladies are saying that you don't know how long it will take. That's what I'm worried about.

I guess I'll see how it goes and what my decision is when that time comes.

GOOD LUCK!

Re: is this silly?

I wouldn't wait, you might get pregnant right away or might not - i would just go for it!

I will be almost 7 months pregnant when my sister gets married next month and im her MOH - i just planned it so that I wouldn't be 9 months pregnant the day of her wedding.

She's happy for me and I'm happy it worked out for me and DH for become pregnant.

Even if you are pregnant - you will not be close to 9 months - so you should have no worries - i would go ahead with your original plans and start ttcing when you both decided too! good luck!

Re: is this silly?

I say dont wait, I am kicking myself now because my dh wanted to start trying on our honeymoon and all I kept saying was that I wanted to wait and work on the house and enjoy some time alone together, now its been 4 months and I am still trying.

Re: is this silly?

If you are 40+, then I would say don't wait. But since you probably aren't....I wouldn't wait if you know you want to TTC. Is it just that you want to be able to drink at the wedding? There shouldn't be any other issues, so I would ttc now anyway.... at least start temping and getting to know your cycles better..
