between trying to find a job and not getting even a call back, trying to get a hostess / waitress job (but I can't work more than 3 days or I will not get unemployment anymore, which we need), trying to get insurance through cobra and not getting any answers from my old employer, using a lot of gas on networking events and now the cc thing -- I had a bit of a breakdown this am. oh, and dh says "just take any job!" at least 4x a day.

I'm sorry that your having a bad week. We are in the same boat over here. DH is having a hard time finding work too. He would take anything too but, anything isn't being offered!! Try to keep your chin up. Have you thought about bartending? My neightbor's DH was laid off, she took a bartending class and is bring home some $$. Just a thought.
Aren't you a graphic designer? Can you freelance?
What cc thing? I haven't been on LIW as much.

I am a writer -- and yes I can freelance, but it's complicated with unemployment.
Do you know where your neighbor took the bartending class? Did it cost $? Where is she working? I think about it all the time but I have never done it and it's making me very nervous. And if it's on the books, it's also complicated re: unemployment (can't work more than 3 days).
The whole thing gets me depressed every once in a while and it's just NOT the right way to start my married life, you know? We plan to move to NH in the fall, and I was hoping to use this time to sock away money, pay off as many bills as I can, etc. I am paying things off still with my severance and tax return, but not as much as I want, and my DH is working all the time to make us some more $$. I don't see him and I think he is starting to resent it a bit - I never asked him to do it but I think he's a little mad at the situation .. and he doesn't understand that getting a corporate job is not as easy as getting an autobody job -- and he just says "when are you going to get a job?" He is comforting most of the time, don't get me wrong - but he is getting impatient as am I.
The cc thing -- I called a credit card to try to lower my apr today and when they heard I was unemployed (dumb, dumb me cannot lie to save my life), they lowered my avail credit by 10K. And they did it on another card too, but only by $2K. I wound up shooting myself in the foot on that one and it just was a crappy start to the day.

Aw, sorry you're having such a rough week. As a PP said, bartending is a great way to make some cash. I did it for years, some jobs were off the books, some on. Most likely the small, neighborhood bars wont be on the books, these are also the places where you'll prob just work for tips with maybe a shift pay. I know there is a bartendign school in Farmingdale on 110 (not sure where you live). They do cost money, not sure how much, but alot of them have guaranteed job placement. Good luck with the job hunt!

I have just realized what has brought on this bout of ... discouragement ....
My . is due any day now.
Doesn't surprise me that I am more emotional. It DOES surprise me that DH didn't ask if my . was coming because he usually figures that out before I remember.
